Sunrise (UPC) reports a rather good second quarter

Sunrise (UPC) has published its results for the second quarter of 2024! showing slight growth in a fairly competitive environment. The operator recorded growth in the mobile segment! with 32!900 new subscriptions on invoice! notably thanks to a reduction in the churn rate.

In the fixed broadband market! the American-owned operator managed to reverse the trend by gaining 5!000 new customers! marking the second consecutive quarter of positive growth! according to this press release . This progression is mainly explained by a significant decrease in the unsubscribe rate! according to the same text.

A quivering turnover

The fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) strategy of Switzerland’s largest cable operator continues to progress! with a penetration rate now reaching 59% of the broadband customer base! an increase of 0.9% year-on-year. The B2B segment also contributed positively to the results! with the conclusion or renewal of contracts! in particular with SBB and Swiss Post for fixed and mobile telephony services.

Despite these commercial successes

The Liberty Global subsidiary’s turnover increased slightly by 0.5% compared to the same period in 2023! reaching more than 737 million Swiss francs. This development is probably partly explained by the increase in certain tariffs. Once again! one wonders whether the customer is not the big loser in the digestion of Sunrise by UPC.

Perspectives consistent

André Krause! CEO of Sunrise (UPC)! expressed confidence in inclusive design and accessibility achieving the financial targets for 2024! despite the end of the positive effect of the price increase implemented in July 2023. He is counting on the positive effects of cost optimization and increased customer loyalty to support performance in the second half of the year.

On the technological front! the Sunrise UPC reports operator singapore number announced that starting in August! it will more than double the speed on its partly coaxial network! going from 1 to 2.5 Gigabits/sec.
